Troubleshooting syncing

If syncing fails, do one of the following:

  • If the syncing is cancelled or it fails for some reason, reconnect the device and sync again.

  • If you notice that some of your calendar and tasks items are not synced, check that the items are saved to your device’s default calendar (if your device supports multiple calendars). Otherwise they will not be included in the sync.

  • If you notice that your contacts, calendar and tasks, notes, or your bookmarks have not been synced, some of the sync files may be defective. To fix the defective files, select Sync > Repair sync. Note that the repairing does not affect your personalized sync options.

  • If information cannot be read from the device, reconnect the device and sync again.

  • If there is not enough space on the computer to save all synced content, delete some files from the computer, or relocate the files to a memory stick or an external hard drive and sync again.

  • If syncing Firefox’s bookmarks fails, it is possible that either Firefox was open when you were installing Nokia Ovi Suite, or you have updated your Firefox from version 3.0 to 3.5. Both of these scenarios might result in the Firefox Synchronization Extension to work incorrectly. The extension is required for the Firefox bookmarks synchronization to work in Nokia Ovi Suite. To fix the problem, on your computer, go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Nokia Ovi Suite, and click Change/Remove. In the dialog that opens, choose the repair option to carry out the needed repairs on Nokia Ovi Suite.

  • If you receive an error message that the syncing was cancelled because of a problem with your user profile in your data management software, open the software once and then try syncing again. If you have not opened your data management software before, the software has not created the needed operating folders and that is why Nokia Ovi Suite cannot sync with it.

  • If you receive an error message stating you need to set up your user account again for your data management software, or that you need to repair or reinstall the software, please refer to the particular software’s help or user manual for further information on how to carry out these actions.

  • If you receive an error message stating you should try repairing Nokia Ovi Suite, then, on your computer, go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Nokia Ovi Suite, and click Change/Remove. In the dialog that opens, choose the repair option to carry out the needed repairs on Nokia Ovi Suite.

  • If you need to check if there is a new version of Nokia Ovi Suite available, see Software updates overview to find out more.

  • If you receive an error message about another device already having the same name as your currently active one, see Modifying device options for guidance on how to modify the options for your device, including how to change your device’s name.

  • If you need to contact Nokia Care, go to http://www.nokia.com/support.
