Troubleshooting downloading, transferring, and accessing maps and voice guidance files

If downloading, transferring, or accessing a map or voice guidance file fails, do one of the following:

  • If the connection between the device and computer is lost, reconnect the USB cable to your device. If this does not help, switch to a Bluetooth connection. For more information on connecting your device via Bluetooth, see About connecting your device via Bluetooth.

  • If the internet connection is lost, check the connection status and try reconnecting. Contact your service provider if the problem persists.

  • If there is not enough space in the device’s memory to save the map or voice guidance file, delete some files (such as videos, music, or photos) or store them on your computer. If your computer runs out of space, store some files on a memory stick or an external hard drive. Then try downloading the map or voice guidance file again.

You may also encounter the following errors concerning Maps in Nokia Ovi Suite:

  • You get a server connection error when opening Maps.

  • You see a notification in Nokia Ovi Suite Maps that your device’s maps or voice guidance files may have been corrupted.

  • You get a generic error message when opening Maps. For those, you can try first disconnecting your device from Nokia Ovi Suite and then reconnecting in Nokia Ovi Suite (or PC Suite) USB mode.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite offers as an update the same version of your device’s Maps application that you already have.

To resolve these four errors listed above, do the following:

      1. Close Nokia Ovi Suite and reconnect the device in Nokia Ovi Suite (or PC Suite) USB mode. Refer to the user guide of your device for more detailed information on selecting or changing the USB mode.

      2. Unplug your device and open its Maps application. This will regenerate the deleted items.

      3. Close the device’s Maps application and reconnect your device to Nokia Ovi Suite in Nokia Ovi Suite (or PC Suite) USB mode.

      4. If you received the error message about the corrupted maps and voice guidance files, or the internal error, go to Maps in Nokia Ovi Suite to download your maps and voice guidance files again.

OR

If you were offered the same Maps version for your device as the one you already had before, open the software updates wizard in Nokia Ovi Suite to see if there is a Maps software update available for your device. If there is one, install it. If not, your device’s Maps application is up to date.
