Troubleshooting browsing and copying music

If you receive an error message that reading the tracks from your device failed or copying tracks to your device failed, the WPD driver installation has probably failed for the device. This can happen if the operating system on your computer is Windows 7.

You should be able to see your device under My Computer in Windows Explorer and browse the device content. If not, you need to uninstall the WPD driver.

To check the WPD driver installation, do the following:

  1. Have your device connected to the computer by USB cable (you do not need Nokia Ovi Suite running).

  2. On the desktop, right-click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu.

  3. From System Tools, select Device Manager.

  4. Under the heading “Portable Devices” you should see the device appear and disappear when you connect and disconnect the cable. If you double-click on the device, you should get a properties window.

  5. If the device has a red cross on it in the device manager, right-click on it, select Uninstall and after the driver has been uninstalled, disconnect and reconnect the device.

You should now be able to see the device in Windows Explorer and browse the device content.
