Deleting and restoring contacts

You can delete contacts from your device and computer. You can also restore contacts that were stored on your computer.

 

To delete a contact from your device, do the following:

  1. In the device area, select All.

  2. In the items area, select one or multiple contacts you want to delete. To select adjacent contacts, click the first contact and then hold down the SHIFT key and click the last contact. To select nonadjacent contacts, click the first contact and then hold down the CTRL key and click additional contacts.

    1. Select Edit > Delete.

    2. Click Yes in the dialog that opens.

    The contact is permanently deleted from the device and the contact groups it belonged to.

     

    To delete a contact from your computer, do the following:

    1. In the navigation area, select All.

    2. In the items area, select one or multiple contacts you want to delete. To select adjacent contacts, click the first contact and then hold down the SHIFT key and click the last contact. To select nonadjacent contacts, click the first contact and then hold down the CTRL key and click additional contacts.

    1. Right-click and select Delete from the menu that opens. The contact is deleted from the All contacts list and the contact groups it belonged to, and moved to Deleted contacts.

    2. In the navigation area, select Deleted contacts. You can see a list of the contacts currently in Deleted contacts.

    3. Select the contact you want to delete.

    4. Right-click and select Delete from the menu that opens. To delete all the contacts at once, right-click Deleted contacts in the navigation area and select Empty Deleted contacts from the menu that opens.

    The contact is permanently deleted from the computer.

    You can also delete contacts permanently by highlighting the contacts in the items area and pressing Shift+Delete.

     

    To restore a contact on your computer, do the following:

    1. In the navigation area, select Deleted contacts. You can see a list of the contacts currently in Deleted contacts.

    2. In the items area, select one or multiple contacts you want to restore. To select adjacent contacts, click the first contact and then hold down the SHIFT key and click the last contact. To select nonadjacent contacts, click the first contact and then hold down the CTRL key and click additional contacts.
      OR
      If you want to restore all of the deleted contacts, select Edit > Restore all.

    3. Right-click and select Restore from the menu that opens.
      The contact is moved back to All contacts along with the contact groups it belonged to previously.

    If you drag a contact fromDeleted contacts to a group it has not belonged to before, the contact information is removed from all the other groups it belonged to before its deletion. See also Grouping contacts.
