Recovering music licenses after restoration

If you encounter problems when using Music in Nokia Ovi Suite after restoring your device content, you may need to recover the music tracks’ DRM licenses that you had stored on your device. The DRM licenses are required for playing the tracks.

If your music is stored on your computer, do the following:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to the computer via a USB cable in the Media Transfer Protocol mode (MTP).

Check from the device area in the lower left-hand corner of Nokia Ovi Suite that you have selected the media transfer USB mode to connect the device. The media transfer mode is indicated by a key icon in addition to the standard icon for a USB cable connection. The media transfer mode is required in order to transfer copy-protected music.

  1. In Nokia Ovi Suite, select View > Go to > Music, and there click All in the device area.

  2. To delete all tracks from your device, in the content area, highlight a track and press CTRL + A on your keyboard.

OR

You can also delete individual tracks from your device. In the content area, highlight a copy-protected track, which is indicated by a key icon. Then select the rest of the copy-protected tracks by holding down the CTRL key.

  1. Right-click and select Delete.

  2. Click Sync music.

Your DRM licenses, along with your music tracks, are now synced back to your device.
